TA Foundations is a five-day Transactional Analysis course designed to help you understand yourself, relate to others more effectively and begin applying TA in your life. This practical, experiential and personal approach, is the best way to grasp the power of TA to transform lives. No prior TA experience or psychological training is required, as this module can be used as a personal development experience in its own right.
A Practical Introduction for Life and Work
TA Foundations is a five-day training designed to help you understand yourself, relate to others more effectively and begin applying Transactional Analysis in your own life. It is practical, experiential and personal, giving you more than theory alone. You will experience the core models of TA for yourself, explore how they work in relationships and communication and begin to see how they can strengthen every facet of your life.
This course is designed for practising professionals, career changers and those seeking meaningful personal and professional development. It is relevant across counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, leadership, education and organisational settings and no prior TA experience is required.

This is the first in the Academy’s 8-module programme which is accredited by PBANZ (for Psychotherapy) and sits within NZAC Counselling pathway requirements. It also aligns with internationally recognised standards in over 80 different countries through both the European and International TA Associations.
How Our Transactional Analysis Training Progresses
Entry Requirements
You do not need prior TA learning, counselling qualifications or psychotherapy qualifications to begin. TA Foundations is designed to be an accessible starting point, without confusing prerequisites or prior specialist training.
If you have already completed a TA101 elsewhere, you may still find TA Foundations worthwhile. The Academy’s position is that repetition deepens understanding and the Foundation goes further by helping you experience the practical application of the models in daily life. A $500 discount is available for people who have already completed a TA 101 and want to refresh and deepen their knowledge through this 5-day experiential module.

If you believe you may be exempt from our ‘TA Foundations’ module, you should contact us directly to discuss your situation. Anyone wishing to progress towards PBANZ psychotherapy registration will need either a degree-level qualification or the equivalent in professional training.
