What TA Academy Stands For
TA Academy was created to provide high-quality and contemporary transactional analysis training in Aotearoa New Zealand, developing skilled, ethical, theoretically grounded and culturally responsive practitioners across counselling, education, organisations and psychotherapy.
Our vision is to offer TA training that reflects the most relevant developments in neuroscience, trauma, the body, creativity and touch, while staying grounded in the depth and integrity of Transactional Analysis itself. Our promise is to deliver programmes that are supportive, engaging and intellectually stimulating, while helping students grow in both professional competence and personal insight.

At TA Academy, our training is grounded in contemporary Transactional Analysis, integrating psychotherapy, counselling, organisational, educational and coaching perspectives to create a rich, applied learning experience. We believe learning TA is not just about understanding theory, it is about experiencing it.

Why Learn with TA Academy
TA Academy was created out of Mandy and Gerry’s shared commitment to high-quality, relational and ethically grounded Transactional Analysis training in Aotearoa New Zealand. They recognised the need for a training pathway in New Zealand that integrates rigorous theory, practical application and cultural responsiveness in a way that genuinely supports learners’ growth.
What makes learning with them especially valuable is the way their strengths complement each other. Mandy brings a research-informed lens, grounded in organisational, relational and creative practice. Gerry brings embodied, supervisory and relational expertise grounded in psychotherapy and somatic practice. Together, they offer a learning environment that is practical, ethical, transformative and deeply human. Students do not just study TA as theory, they experience it as a framework they can apply across counselling, coaching, psychotherapy and organisational contexts.
Training Standards & Accreditation
TA Academy’s training aligns with the international standards set by the ITAA, following the ITAA Professional Standards Committee requirements and the ITAA Training and Examinations Handbook. This gives students a globally recognised and professionally rigorous pathway, with training that has real depth, seriousness and career potential.
The Academy’s psychotherapy training is nationally accredited by PBANZ, the counselling training is a pathway for NZAC professional membership, the Foundation module includes ICF CCE credits and the wider programme supports progression towards CTA qualification. All TA training must be delivered by an ITAA-endorsed trainer and your CTA certification includes written and oral examinations via the International Board of Certification.
This matters because the Academy is not positioning itself as personal development alone. It offers a clear, professionally robust pathway that can support recognised certification and broader professional opportunities, while still giving students a chance to experience the training style and assess its suitability before making a longer-term commitment.

This commitment includes designing teaching spaces that are safe, welcoming and affirming, encouraging reflection on cultural assumptions, power dynamics and relational ethics and working from the core TA philosophy of “I’m OK, You’re OK” in ways that are relevant to a multicultural society. TA Academy also offers a bicultural TA101 each year, working creatively with the synergies between Māori culture and TA.
