Course Description
'A Psychotactile Approach to Trauma' is a two-day experiential workshop for therapists and psychological professionals interested in the emerging role of safe, ethical touch within trauma-informed practice. This introductory workshop explores the foundational principles of Psychotactile Therapy, including the neurobiology of touch and trauma, nervous system regulation, implicit memory, interoception and embodied experience. Participants will explore the distinction between social-intimate touch and functional-neurobiological touch, experience simple clothed touch protocols for safety and regulation and consider the ethical and relational implications of introducing touch into therapeutic practice. This workshop is designed for psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, mental health professionals, trainee therapists and psychological professionals working with trauma. No prior bodywork training is required. Attendance at this workshop is a prerequisite for entry into TA Academy’s one-year, 124-hour Diploma in Psychotactile Therapy.
